There’s a gap between the data that shapes the bike industry and the people who actually sell bikes every day. Right now, the data that informs supplier strategies, brand decisions, and industry forecasts is built without meaningful retailer input.
PeopleForBikes wants to change that. Their new Bike Industry Data Exchange asks US independent retailers to contribute anonymised point of sale and inventory data; and in return, gives participating shops free access to the kind of market insights that have historically sat behind paywalls or arrived too late to be useful.
The logic is straightforward: the more shops that contribute, the more accurate and representative the picture becomes, and the more it reflects what independent retail looks like from the inside.
It’s a small commitment you can make toward an industry picture that reflects how independent retail really operates.
